How Coaching Works
Change of any kind is a process. Transformation – which is sustained change - can happen in an instant or over the course of 9 months to many years. Many people create change for themselves in a short time: Workshops, Retreat Days and one-off sessions offer discovery, revelation and learning that create immediate value and action in you, your life and business. In order to refine (4-6 months) and sustain (minimum 9-12 months) change it takes practice, testing, tweaking, celebrating and consistency in gaining CORE strength, CORE mindsets, and taking CORE-aligned actions over the course of time. Your belief, commitment, actions, support/team and environment will determine your results.
At times you may feel stuck or as if the process isn’t working. This is often a perfect sign that you are facing your obstacles and limiting beliefs, ready for a breakthrough. My request is that any and all concerns with the process or how you are feeling be addressed with me so we can maintain a strong relationship, create a solution that meets your needs and aligns with your goals and desired results.
I recognize that information of a personal and confidential manner may be relayed during working sessions and correspondence. I will not at anytime, either directly or indirectly, use this information for my benefit or the benefit of GV, nor disclose said information to anyone else without your specific approval.
However, in the case of any legal request, please know there is no legal protection for our conversations and that I would honor a subpoena or other court request for information if required. If information you share with us is sufficiently “illegal” or “dangerous-to-oneself-or-others”, I will consult the appropriate advisor in order to determine whether or not to notify the appropriate authority. If information you share with me creates an uncomfortable feeling for me, or steps outside of my ethics and integrity base, I will let you know and may terminate the coaching relationship.
If you are a client who is a minor (under the age of 18 in the USA), confidentiality holds in all areas as noted above. Note to Parents: should you want an update on your child’s progress we will arrange a meeting either by conference call or face to face with your child present to provide the progress update so that confidentiality is maintained.
Note also that none of your personal contact information will be shared with or sold to anyone else. We hold your privacy as one of our most important values.
Please note that I maintain a client-coaching log (for certification with the International Coach Federation [ICF]), which includes your name, and email/phone contact information and hours coached. By participating in a coaching relationship with me, you are indicating your permission to have your name and contact information released to the ICF for purposes of my ongoing certification (specific issues/topics/content covered will not be submitted).
Nature of the Relationship
Coaching-consulting touches all areas of a client’s life, holds the client as the expert and is designed to uncover the answers that are within the client and the resources to tap into around the client. Deciding actions to take into any area of your life or business, how to handle any issues that arise, and how you implement the choices you make are solely your responsibility and you may want to seek independent professional guidance (counselor, financial, legal, health advisor, etc.) prior to making any decisions or taking any action.
Specific results are not guaranteed. Client enters into this relationship with the understanding that you are responsible for creating your own results. Client also agrees not to hold GV liable for any actions or results for adverse situations created as a direct result of a specific referral given by the coach as ownership for Client’s life rests with Client.
The Client has been made aware that this relationship is in no way to be considered or construed as psychological counseling or any type of therapy.
If you are in therapy or otherwise under the care of a mental health professional, by making payment online or by signing this agreement you are documenting that you have consulted with that professional about the advisability of working with a coach and that this person is aware of your decision to proceed with coaching.
Any controversy, dispute, or question arising out of, in connection with, or in relation to this coaching agreement or its interpretation, performance or nonperformance, or any breach thereof, shall be determined by arbitration conducted in accordance with the then-existing rules of the American Arbitration Association, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service or the Michigan Arbitration Act, MCL §§600.5001 – 600.5035. Any decision rendered by the Arbitrator shall be final and binding upon the parties; and Judgment upon any arbitration award, including an award of damages, may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof. The Arbitrator may not amend, modify, or substitute any of the terms or conditions of this Agreement and his jurisdiction is thereby limited.
The workshop, mastermind, retreat, package, etc. that you’ve entered into is a fixed commitment on both sides according to the parameters of your package. All paid fees are non-refundable. If for any reason you choose not to continue, or stop participating, or you complete your package prior to completion of your payment plan, you will continue to be liable for the fees of this program.
Should you have any major concerns, emergencies, extreme hardships or significant conflicts of interest arise during the course of our working relationship, please raise the issue with me as soon as is practical and we will, together, determine the appropriate course of action as it relates to your program commitment. Likewise, I will do the same.
Calls, Cancellations and Rescheduling
Individual calls/meetings: Should you need to cancel or reschedule your session for any reason you are required to give a minimum of 24 hours advance notice or you will be charged the regular fee – unless it is an emergency. One grace per client is given.
The foundation of the 24-hour advance notice policy is three-fold
1 -Coaching is about you (not GV or me) and this policy allows you to stay focused on your coaching and be accountable to your process and outcomes. Taking responsibility for your sessions is a part of the coaching process – it shows your investment in and commitment to yourself and your goals.
2 -24 hours of notice allows for other clients to have the opportunity to utilize that opening. Clients reschedule for any number of reasons and often are grateful for the opportunity to coach at that time.
3 -It is sound business practice, holds professionalism, and is impartial.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have contacted GV 24 hours in advance and that is verifiable via a date/time stamp. It is also your responsibility to ensure that we acknowledge and approve of your request. Sessions will be rescheduled according to availability.
If you are part of a program with pre-scheduled date/time individual, group, workshop, etc. activities and you are unable to attend, you understand and agree that you have forfeited that portion of the program and are still liable for all fees. If audio or video is used, you will have access to those along with the related materials.
I am motivated and committed to taking action on my personal and professional goals including what I need from GV to continue moving forward. I understand my role and GV’s role in this program. As a client, I understand and agree that I am fully responsible for myself, my life and my business including my choices, decisions and results. I will ask questions, clarify anything I don’t understand and ask for what I need and want. I take ownership and am committed to doing everything I need to do to get the results I’m looking for.
